Lucknow: Noted Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik, who is going to shoot a full length dark comedy in Uttar Pradesh, has said that the atmosphere of this state is very friendly for film-makers.

“Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has done a lot in making the state very friendly for film-makers and amazing work has been done to promote Bollywood here,” Kaushik told ‘Newztrack.com’ in an exclusive interview. Satish was in the state capital to explore the locations for his upcoming biopic on ‘Mritak Lal Bihari’, a saga of a living man declared dead by the system.

Who is Mritak Lal Bihari ?

  • Lal Bihari is a farmer and activist from Azamgarh district in U.P.
  • He was officially ‘dead’ between 1975 and 1994 according to official land revenue records.
  • Lal Bihari fought with the bureaucratic system for 19 years to prove that he is alive.
  • Meanwhile, he added Mritak (deceased) to his name, and founded Mritak Sangh (association of dead but alive people) to highlight other cases like his. In 1994 he managed to have his official death annulled after a long legal struggle.

A dark comedy feature film:

  • Satish said that his upcoming movie is a biopic, which is based on the life of Mritak Lal Bihari and it will be a satire on the system.
  • “I am not going to put a Govinda style comedy into it because the subject is very sensitive and I have decided to make it a dark comedy,” he adds.
  • He will not act in this movie.

Right time to make biopic:

“Biopic were not encouraged earlier but these days the Indian film industry is on a biopic spree thus it is right time to make a movie on Mritak Lal Bihari,” Kaushik told ‘newztrack.com’.

Would love to do Television again:

The actor cum director, who has been applauded for his television appearance in comedy show ‘Sumit Sambhaal Lega’, said that he would love to do such cameo again.

Shocked by Jat stir:

Satish, who is from Haryana, said that the recent Jat stir demanding reservation has taken the state 5 to 10 years back.

Upcoming projects:

Besides ‘Mritak Lal Bihari’, Satish is also making a Haryanavi film. He, however, did not reveal the name of his forthcoming movies.
