Samajwadi Party leader Manish Giri hacked to death in Lucknow

Lucknow: Manish Giri alias Mintu, a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader was hacked to death in late hours on Monday night, police said.

The police have suspected illicit relations being the reason behind the murder.

His body was found in a dwelling near the Gwari crossing in Gomti Nagar locality of the state capital.

Manish was the Lucknow general secretary of socialist Lohia Vahini.

A manhunt has been launched by the police.

His car was found 100 metres away from the crime spot.

The police is searching for a labourer Rajesh Lala, who is said to be the close aide of Manish.

An eye witness told the police that he had seen Lala walking away with a blood soaked axe.

Lala along with his wife and son is absconding.

Investigation was underway, said police.
