Triple talaq is unconstitutional, says Ravi Shankar Prasad

Lucknow: Ridiculing the alliance between the ruling Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, the Union minister for Law and Justice and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said that it was the political opportunism at its worst.

''It is for the electorate to see how the Congress which gave slogan of '27 Saal ,UP Behaal' has joined hands with SP which is also responsible for 'behaal' UP,'' the senior BJP leader said while addressing the media at state Bharatiya Janata Party office in the state capital. The alliance has given 25 per cent stake of Rahul Gandhi in the corrupt company of Akhilesh Yadav, he said while making a sniding remark at the Congress Vice President.

Ravishankar Prasad said that Rahul has no cheek to comment on the scams which took place during the previous UPA regime at the Centre. ''By not doing so, Rahul has lost all moral grounds to even mention the corruption,'' he said asserting that SP-Congress alliance was a compulsion in view of the beleaguered party in UP.

Defending the demonetisation move by the Modi government, the Union Minister said it was a master move to check terrorism, naxalism, hawala trade beside curbing the flow of black money in the country. The long-term gain of demonetisation will be seen to be believed, he claimed.

He said the wave for a change is clearly evident in the Uttar Pradesh and the coming assembly elections will see the BJP returning to the power as people of the state are fed up of corruption and caste politics over the years.
