UP Polls: 35 lakh electorate of Lucknow may use their franchise

Lucknow: With 2017 assembly elections on the doors, Lucknowites are all set to caste votes. The voting would be held in nine assembly constituencies in the third phase.

As per the officials of Election Commission of India, about 35 lakh voters would vote in the City of Nawabs.

EC, on Wednesday, informed that notification regarding the third phase would be given on January 24 and the last date for nominations would be January 31. The scrutiny of nominations would take place on February 2 while February 4 would be the last date for withdrawal of candidates.

Counting of votes will take place on March 11.

These are nine assembly constituencies of Lucknow- 168-Malihabad (SC); 169-Bakshi Kaa Talab; 170-Sarojini Nagar; 171-Lucknow West; 172-Lucknow North; 173-Lucknow East; 174-Lucknow Central; 175-Lucknow Cantonment and 176-Mohanlalganj (SC).

Apart from Lucknow East and Lucknow Cantonment, which are represented by BJP’s Ashutosh Tandon and Rita Bahuguna Joshi (earlier in Congress), rest of the assembly constituencies are held by Samajwadi Party.
