KGMU to partner with NCC to spread awareness about COVID-19

Lucknow: King George Medical University’s Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) chief Dr. Shekhar Tandon alleged former chief Dr. SK Singh and his team responsible for the deaths of 18 patients.

Addressing a press conference, Dr. Tandon said-

  • The surgery equipments which were being imported for the BPL patients during Dr. Singh’s regime were found expired.
  • Departmental investigation revealed that the allegations over Dr. Singh and his team are true.
  • One private medical store AAMA was given Rs. 35 lakhs for 60 valves but no such supply took place.
  • The supply initiated after investigation started.
  • Do not know whether the patients were operated with valves or not.
  • 18 patients lost their lives during surgery.
  • During audit, surgery equipments of about Rs. 32 lakhs were found expired.

Other Highlights-

  • Double valve surgery usually costs a patient Rs 2 lakh.
  • Doctors get commission of Rs. 20 thousand on the purchase of every valve, said sources.
