Lucknow: In a tragic incident, one of the lions at the Lucknow Zoo, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah zoo, passed away on Saturday afternoon. He was 21-year-old.

The lion, named Prince, was not keeping well for sometime. His death came as a blow to the zoo authorities as only a month back, white tiger Aryan had also passed away.

"Prince was not keeping well for sometime now and had developed some infections. We tried our best but could not save him," said a zoo official. All zoo keepers and attendants bid a tearful adieu to the lion. The lion's personal keeper Mubarak Ali, moved to tears, called it an 'irreparable loss'.

He was brought to Lucknow Zoo from Chandigarh in 2003, when he was 7-year-old.
