Lucknow: Pulling up two principal secretaries of the Uttar Pradesh government, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday warned them of serious consequences if adequate measures were not taken by October 7.

HC lashed out at the government for filing a report mentioning that only one death due to dengue has taken place in the city so far. Expressing shock over the official claim, the court said, "We had condolences for death of two lawyers and you say only one death took place. How is your report prepared."

What else the court said?

  • A bench of justices AP Sahi and Justice Vijai Laxmi ordered the government to take effective measures to control Dengue menace by October 7.
  • State government has asked the Central government to provide it 60 thousand mosquito nets. What the state government is doing by its own?
  • Court was hearing on a PIL filed by a local lawyer MP Singh.
  • Court directed urban development department secretary, municipal commissioner and district health officer to get places clean and ensure hygienic conditions for citizens.
