Lucknow: A city boy brought pride to the country by topping the SAT exam 2017, held to get admission in the graduation courses of top universities and colleges of the United States of America.

The student, named Shubh Agarwal, scored 1590 out of 1600 marks to emerged as the highest aggregator in this year's exam, which was conducted on January 21, 2017.

Students from 175 countries of the world participate in the SAT examination every year.

Shubh is also preparing for the upcoming Advanced Placement (AP) Test, which will be held in May this year. The exam is conducted for selecting students from all over the world for collages of USA and Canada.

It is to be mentioned that over 75 per cent universities and colleges of US prefer SAT score for selecting foreign students for their graduation courses.

The Lucknow boy has scored 800 out of 800 in mathematics and 790 out of 800 in English (Reading Comprehension). The test is conducted in four steps – two of Maths and two of English. In all four tests, combined, a student can score a maximum of 1600 marks.

Lauding Shubh Agarwal for getting such great score, USA UnivQuest member and SAT exam co-ordinator in India, Sanjeev Kumar Pandey said, "This is the first time when a Lucknow-based boy has scored such high marks."

Shubh, whose parents are doctors, said that he is willing to get admission in Harvard University in the US where he would do research on Astrophysics.
