Lucknow: Film-actor-turned politician Jaya Prada was appointed senior vice-chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council on Saturday to please party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Amar Singh, who had complained of neglecting senior party leaders including her. She will enjoy the privileges and facilities of a cabinet minister.

Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav may be instrumental in her selection as Amar had complained to him and accused his chief minister son Akhilesh Yadav of the neglect and of sparing no time for the senior party leaders. The latter had promptly replied that if he attended all of them there would not be much time left for administrative work.

It appears that senior patriarch who had brought him back to the party and got him elected to the Upper House intervened and brokered peace between the two .

Her appointment could act as a balm to Amar who is considered close to her. It is believed that it was he who brought her into politics and got her elected from Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Jaya Prada will work under noted poet Gopal Das Neeraj.
