Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police is all set to launch the e-FIR service where a victim can get his/her complaint registered through internet without going to police station.

About 75 first information reports were registered in the last seven days during its trail run, said UP Director General of Police Javeed Ahmad.This up police online fir registration process is started by Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).

Here are the steps to file an e-FIR

  • Open official website of Uttar Pradesh i.e. uppolice.gov.in
  • Click on Citizen Services.
  • Search the link of E-FIR on new page.
  • You will be forwarded on new page of CCTNS portal.
  • Than after you have to register yourself with CCTNS portal. When your registration will be complete than you will get a login ID and Password.

DGPUP

  • Login again with given user id and password.
  • Fill new fir registration form. You can also check your fir status, list of fir and many more details.
  • Now after filling the form, your FIR is registered.
  • You will get a valid SMS or e-mail after your FIR is registered and verified..
  • You can also download up police online fir status in pdf format from your email.

e-FIRs

Things to remember before filing an e-FIR:

  • The First Information Report (FIR) can be filed only against an unidentified person.
  • The case can be lodged only in non-special reports.
  • FIR will not be registered in case of heinous crimes.
  • Complaints of lost and found will not be registered on it.
