HC issues notices to Election Commission and Anupriya Patel

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday sought a clarification from Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding prohibition imposed on political party Apna Dal.

The court ordered this while hearing a writ petition filed by Apna Dal’s President Krishna Patel and has also issued a notice to Anupriya Patel.

Prohibitions:

• The prohibition was ordered by ECI over the plea of Anupriya Patel.
• The commission has imposed various prohibitions on the party.
• The party is facing difficulty in contesting the elections due to it.

The case:

• The prohibition is equal to ending the accreditation of party.
• The party has been registered under specific sections of the law.
• The next date of hearing has been fixed after 4 weeks.
