Lucknow: The Police on Thursday raided the residence of former UP Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Dayashankar Singh to arrest him for his derogatory remarks against the BSP Supremo Mayawati. But it had to return empty handed as he was not present in the house.

BSP workers have come to the streets demanding Singh’s arrest for humiliating their leader. Effigies of Dayashankar Singh along with other senior BJP leaders have been burnt by the protesters in the state capital.

An FIR was registered against Dayashankar Singh in Hazratganj Kotwali under IPC sections 153 (A), 504, 509 and SC/ST act on Wednesday.

Dayashankar, while addressing BJP party workers in Mau on Wednesday, passed abusive remarks against Mayawati. He was later sacked from the party for six years.
