No sight of moon on Tuesday, Eid to be celebrated on Thursday

Lucknow: The Shia-Sunni Chand Committee has announced the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday, despite of the fact that the moon was not sighted on Tuesday.

According to the Islamic rituals, the Rozas in the month of Ramzaan are observed for 30 days and cannot be exceeded. The 30th Roza will be observed on Wednesday and the next day will mark the end of Ramzaan with the celebration of Eid.

Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, president of Markaji Chand Committee, on Wednesday declared that moon was not sighted on 29th day of Ramzaan, the Rozedars will observe their 30th Roza Ramzaan-ul-Mubarak and will celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr, on Thursday.

The president of Shia Chand Committee, Maulana Saif Abbas, declared that the community will celebrate the festival on July 7. The same declaration was also made by Quazi-e-Shehar, Mufti Irfan Miyan Firangi.
