Lucknow: Patting the back of Uttar Pradesh police, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ahead of second and third phases of civic polls, said that law and order has improved in the state with no riots and more than 1,200 police encounters.

He said that development has no religion and there will be equal development everywhere. All the districts in the state will get their separate identity, said UP CM.

NHRC, however, has issued notice to UP government for endorsing police encounters.

"People of UP are seeing the change in the law and order condition in the last eight months. The earlier government had completely failed to curb riots and scores of people lost their lives, but since the inception of our government, not a single riot had occurred in the state. If any anti-social element or criminals tried to break a law, then they have to pay price," said Yogi Adityanath addressing a gathering here.

"Our government had promised to shut down illegal slaughterhouses, today there are no illegal butcher shops or slaughterhouses. We have reclaim several acres of encroached land and sent land mafia in jail,"he added.

Yogi said that it was after centuries that Ayodhya saw Diwali celebrations the way it used to be celebrated in ancient times.

What else Yogi Adityanath said?

  • The state government is taking interest in the local body elections because it wants to better the lives of the people.
  • The BJP wants to make local bodies more powerful and answerable too.
  • The local bodies have a big role in providing basic services to people
  • State governments of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party did not allow the BJP-ruled local bodies to function properly during the last 15 years
