HC questions appointments of information commissioners in UP

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday asked the Uttar Pradesh about the eminence of eight Information commissioners who got the job and whether there was no other candidate out of 644 applicants better than the selected ones.

The bench comprising of Justices AP Sahi and Justice AR Masoodi expressed surprise that selection committee started work at 11 a.m. and finalized list of selected candidates within a day.

The court has directed the state government to file an affidavit explaining this issue.

The next hearing of this case has been fixed for March 4 next.
