Lucknow: Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad announced on Sunday that the party will fight on all 80 seats of Uttar Pradesh in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Asserting that Congress is fully prepared, Azad further said, “Just like Congress emerged no. 1 party in Uttar Pradesh in 2009 Lok Sabha elections, this time also we will fight on our own and win twice those number of seats in upcoming elections.”
Azad said that the party has a direct battle with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Lok Sabha elections. He said that we will contest elections in the leadership of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and will surprise opposition with the results.
Congress Uttar Pradesh President Raj Babbar was also present at the event.
It is to be mentioned that Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced an alliance, here on Saturday.
However, the Congress has still kept the doors open of a possible alliance by saying that if any secular party is strong enough to give a tough fight to BJP then Congress is ready to shake hands.
