Lucknow: Describing the Union budget presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Parliament on Monday as rural-centric, Professor Bharat Bhusan of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow said it was more tilted towards agri-economy.

“The investment in rural areas will increase employment opportunities and in turn the purchasing power of people besides giving boost to manufacturing industry,” the noted economist told ‘Newztrack.com’.

What else he said:

  • Emphasis paid on Corporate and IT sector as done during the last 15 years.
  • How will a country be economically strong when the base is weak? He questioned.
  • More than 70 per cent people reside in rural areas.
  • Budget is focused on people of rural areas.

Budget is for every class: BJP

The Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also hailed the budget and said this budget proposed to cater to poor, farmers and common man.

“Proper emphasis has been paid on poor, farmers and labours,” said UP BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna.

This budget will increase inflation: RLD

The budget is going to increase inflation and common citizens will suffer from it, said Rashtriya Lok Dal UP president Munna Singh Chauhan.
