Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati, during a press conference here on Thursday, announced that the law and order situation which had deteriorated in the state would be her party’s main agenda in the 2017 assembly elections.

Mayawati criticized the Akhilesh Yadav ruled state over several issues including development and accused him of favouring his caste and doing caste-based politics. She also said that if the state government had not mishandled the Jawaharbagh violence, why was it afraid of a CBI probe?

Former UP Chief Minister backed the Abhishek Choubey directed film ‘Udta Punjab’ and slammed the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP alliance government in Punjab for taking no actions against the rising drug abuse among the youths in the state. She said that film covers a social message and hence, it should be released without cuts.

BSP Chief released her party agenda for the upcoming 2017 assembly election. These are:

  • Communities creating law and order problems would be sent behind bars
  • Unlike the SP government, which stresses on development for a particular religion, BSP solely moves on the agenda of equality and development for all
  • BSP will take strict action against people or communities that are involved in illegal acquisition of land and government properties

She also slammed the ruling BJP government at the Center for regular visits of its leaders in the state on the pretext of ‘Vikas Parv’. She said that Sadhvi Prachi is echoing the sentiments of the BJP by giving Muslim-free India statement.
