Read books of great leaders instead of slogan-shouting: Mulayam

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav would like his leaders and workers to read books on socialist and other great leaders and to follow their ideals for the betterment of the society and the nation.

Speaking at a function to mark the 50th death anniversary of socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia here on Wednesday, he disclosed that he had made it compulsory for ticket seekers during the previous assembly election in the state. “ They had started buying such books. But only few read them”.

Expressing himself against slogan-shouting by party workers on different occasions, he said “ more that this what is needed is hard work to promote the party during the coming assembly election”.

Praising his ideal Lohia he said he was a great leader and thinker whom he had met on August 23,1967 which was the last meeting with him. “ I am still following his principles,"

Chief Minsiter Akhilesh Yadav, state party president Shivpal Singh Yadav and several other prominent party leaders were present on the occasion. Fifty Compact discs containing his speeches at public meeting were also released on the occasion.
