Amethi: All India Congress Committee Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had to face embarrassing moments in his parliamentary constituency on Friday as members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) raising "Rahul Gandhi go back" slogans.

This is the first time since his Lok Sabha victory in 2004 that the Nehru-Gandhi scion had to face such a protest in his family pocket borough.

Protest:

  • The protest started from district Congress office.
  • Slogans like -‘Rahul go back’ were raised by BJYM workers.
  • The protesters were angry with Rahul's stand on the Jawaharlal Nehru University row.
  • Members of the BJP Yuva Morcha also tied black bands on their arms as a mark of protest.
  • A brawl also occurred between the members of National Students Union of India (NSUI), a student outfit of the Congress and BJP Yuva Morcha.
  • The district administration intervened to prevent the situation from turning ugly.
