Bhadohi will be renamed as Ravidas Nagar once again, says Mayawati
Remembering Sant Ravidas on its 640th Birth Anniversary BSP supremo Mayawati said if their government comes to power in the state then Bhadohi district will be once again renamed as Sant Ravidas Nagar.
Lucknow: Remembering Sant Ravidas on his 640th Birth Anniversary BSP supremo Mayawati said if their government comes to power in the state then Bhadohi district will be once again renamed as Sant Ravidas Nagar.
Addressing a press conference in the state, Mayawati attacked Samajwadi party and said the city was renamed from Ravidas Nagar to Bhadohi, which was the result of casteist mindset.
Mayawati said, "The decision taken by the ruling government was the result of casteist mindset and political bitterness. If we form our government then once again Bhadohi will be named as Ravidas Nagar."
She further added, "In this era of casteism we give more importance to humanism. During our government we built ravidas park in Varanasi, Ravidas Rajakiya Degree college in Faizabad. A statue of Ravidas was built in Varanasi and also started the distribution of Sant Ravidas awards "
It may be mentioned that ravidas Nagar was renamed on December 4, 1997 during the regime of Mayawati.
