Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday had to encounter some unsavoury moments when a group of students tried to disrupt his speech by raising slogans at the convocation ceremony of Babasaheb Bheemrao Ambedkar University.

The students raised the slogans of ‘Go Back Modi’, protesting against the suicide case of Hyderabad Universities Dalit student Rohit Vemula. Those who raised slogans against the Prime Minister have been identified as Surendra Nigam, Amrendra Arya, Ram Karan Nirmal, Sanjay Pandey and Ram Das.

These students were immediately whisked off from the hall while one Ram Karan was under the arrest of police.

BBAU to take action:

Students who were involved in sloganeering against the Prime Minister have earlier been booked for various indisciplinary charges, said Vice-Chancellor R C Sobti. Adding, university administration will take action against them.
