Lucknow Weather Update: Incessant rains bring life to standstill; Roads waterlogged, lanes submerged

Lucknow: The central and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, Gorakhpur and the capital city Lucknow have received from moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. There is heavy waterlogging at several places and many roads and streets have been submerged into the water due to incessant rains.

Maximum rains have been recorded in areas - Pratapgarh (308mm), Fursatganj (186mm), Khalilabad (164.5mm), Bhadohi (134.5mm), Prayagraj (121.5mm), Sultanpur (118.4mm), Chandausi (110.5mm), Lucknow (107mm), Faizabad (104.6mm), Varanasi (97mm) and Gorakhpur (97mm).



Conditions in the capital city Lucknow are threatening as from railway station to bus stand to airport, everything has come to a standstill due to continuous rains. Several roads in Lucknow are waterlogged due to which there are heavy traffic jams on the roads. Several flights were cancelled as operations were impacted due to waterlogging on airport.

The weather department has alerted 30 districts all across Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Barabanki visit was called off following the incessant rains.



The Lucknow Police commissionerate has issued guidelines for the people of Lucknow and requested them to stay indoors. Administration has also issued toll free numbers which can be used by anyone in need.
