Lucknow: The institution is committed to quality assurance at every level. Second meeting was held online today on zoom, where IQAC team members such as Prof Ravi Kant, former Vice chancellor KGMU and presently Director & CEO AIIMS Rishikesh, Prof Sanjeev Misra, Director AIIMS Jodhpur, Prof Sandeep Kumar, Founder director AIIMS Bhopal, Prof M Goel, Medanta hospital Prof Uma Singh Dean Academics participated in the meeting, the first meeting was held in Jan this year.

Agenda of today's meeting was to discuss feedback system initiated at KGMU, which was presented by Prof Divya Mehrotra, Dean quality control & Future planning, KGMU; Feedback has been initiated from parents, alumni, employers and examiners as well as from students for the teaching and training by faculty members.

These feedback will constitute the performance markers for KGMU and show us the lacunae where intervention is needed and guide us to introspect and improve in this continuous journey of quality care, teaching and research best practices implemented at KGMU which make it different from any other Institution Presented by Prof Rishi Sethi, who highlighted the role played by the dept of microbiology at state and national level during the covid times and doing thousands of RTPCR tests daily, taking a leadership role in training all state medical colleges, as one of the best practice of KGMU.

Other best practices of KGMU discussed were role of digitalization, artificial intelligence and simulation in education, patient care and research benefitting both the students and patients; to discuss the quality benchmarks in medical education.

The uniqueness of university environment dept at KGMU, demonstrates institutes vision for environment protection, alternate sources of energy consumption, rainwater harvesting, solar panels etc. The purpose of biannual meeting was to discuss on best practices and appraisal of Implementation of feedback system by IQAC and guidelines of academic flexibility framework for MBBS course. VC Lt Gen Bipin Puri highlighted that quality process is a journey and not a destination and could only be achieved thru developing short term, midterm and long-term realistic and achievable objectives.

He also stressed on sharing best practices from other institutes and develop a roadmap for quality related endeavors. He stressed upon empowering IQAC and upgradation of KGMU website.

Members anonymously suggested to develop policy for "involvement of all "and capacity building of all faculty members. Professor M Goel stressed the quality improvements by setting quality benchmarks in work culture of the university by enforcement of punctuality, performance and productivity in work. In the academics, role of multiple formative assessments was emphasized by Professor Ravi Kant, which can make even the weakest student of the class to perform as good as the best.

This can be achieved by student centric approached that can be designed still remaining in the framework of NMC regulation, and lead to achieve competence and thereby excellence in medical education. He also opined to set course competency at par with global standards and suggested to sort out our uniqueness, which should be strengthened and maintained to sustain excellence.
