RUC chief Rashadi dubs Saifullah's encounter as ‘fake’, FIR ordered

Kanpur: Following the Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) president Maulana Aamir Rashadi Madani's controversial statement in which he termed Thakurganj encounter as fake, Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Law and Order) Daljit Chaudhary has ordered Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kanpur to register a case against the former.

Upping the ante, Rashadi Madni, earlier in the day, had raised questions over the authenticity of the encounter carried by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).

Slamming government and media, he had said that the encounter was mere an attempt to ignite communal polarisation amid Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

RUC chief, who had met terrorist Saifullah's father Sartaj Mohammed, also questioned Daljit Chaudhary's mum over the same.

What else RUC chief had said?

  • Saifullah was already in the custody.
  • The weapons recovered from his house were of police and even the firing from his residence was done by the security forces.

It may be recalled here that ATS and UP Police, in a joint operation, had turned down Saifullah after a 11-hour long anti-terror operation.
