PM attacks Akhilesh government in Kanpur:

Attacking the state government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stated that people in Uttar Pradesh are tired of goondaism. The PM stated that Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing a storm of change since last few months. The state has an immense potential in the field of skill development and thus the government has started many projects here.

The Prime Minister while urging the UPiites to bring Bhartiya Janata Party to power in the upcoming elections, stated, "There is a need to bring change in the ruling government of the state. Uttar Pradesh cannot be developed until its residents would not come forward to vote BJP into power."

He said, "Jab tak sarkaar nahi badlegi, parivartan nahi aaega, pradesh nahi badlega... (till the Government is not changed your problem won't be solved.)"

"Everyone who want to see this state developed, they have support of the government. The ruling government in the UP is busy solving family matters. It has no time to look after the needs of the state," the PM said.

What else he said:

  • History will not record who was the PM who brought about this revolutionary change in eradicating corruption, but will praise people.
  • The country is lucky to have a brigade of energetic youth but we have to develop their skills into right direction.
  • Youths if given the right kind of exposure & facilities can contribute a lot in the growth of nation and many initiatives have been taken by the Government to empower the youth especially in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Due to continuous election mode, much time is wasted which can be used in development activities. I appeal to Election Commission to start dialogue on this.
  • I had said in all party meet held before winter session that we must have discussion on donations given to political parties and Lok Sabha -Rajya Sabha elections.
  • I requested in the all party meet that discussion on how political parties get funds should take place in the Parliament.
  • It is the responsibility of political parties to set an example on non-corrupt practices. Especially about donations to political parties.
  • Before demonetisation decision, there was no value for Rs 100 notes but after this decision people are valuing it and poor people.
  • I am aware of the strength of corrupt people, when they can bribe bank officials they can do anything but we have to fight this.

The Prime Minister was in Kanpur to address the public gathering in Bhartiya Janata Party's Parivartan Yatra ahead of 2017 assembly elections.
