Etawah lion Safari: all is not well in Akhilesh's dream project
Etawah: The 'jinx' of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's dream project of Lion Safari in his native district of Etawah is yet to be cured as yet another lion 'Kuber' is facing death threat owing to illness.
The illness of Kuber has created a panic among the forest officials as many officers in the past had face brunt of the government following several deaths of the lions.the doctors from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly and Mathura Veterinary College are continuously observing the animal along with the doctors of Kanpur zoo but could not diagnose the big cat.
Number of deaths in Lion Safari:
- Kuber is the ninth tiger who has fallen severely ill in this safari.
- A pair of lion lost their life in this safari in year 2014.
- The lion safari also witnessed the death of five cubs soon after the pair died.
- Recently in January 2016 a lioness brought from Gujrat died in CM's lion Safari.
- Along with Kuber another lioness Kunwari is also reported ill for past few weeks.
Kuber's medical treatment:
- The Safari administration is in constant touch with Doctor Jonathan Creknael, an specialist from Longleat Safari in London. He is expected to visit India soon to observe Kuber's health.
- "Doctors have collected the body samples of the lion and treatment is in progress," stated a safari official and added that the doctor's are waiting for the test reports to know the actual cause of kuber's illness.
- Safari's director Sanjay Srivastav with other officials of the Safari, on Sunday, visited the place to observe the situation.
