Three persons were arrested by a joint team of Kanpur Dehat police and its crime branch with a counterfeit Rs 2000 notes having a value of 7.64 lakhs from Pukhraya area, here, on Wednesday.

Kanpur: Three persons were arrested by a joint team of Kanpur Dehat police and its crime branch with a counterfeit Rs 2000 notes having a value of 7.64 lakhs from Pukhraya area, here, on Wednesday.

According to Superintendent of Police Prabhakar Chaudhary," The accused were inspired by the Whats App video and were motivated by a man named Vijay, a resident of Kanpur."

After a tip-off, police raided the house of Sarmendra Sachan and recovered a huge amount of cash with two printers, laptop, five cell phones, blade cutter, white sheets and five different riffle cartridges.

The remaining two accused Prasun Sachan and Asish Gupta were arrested after Samendra gave their location during the interrogation.

What else Chaudhary said?

  • The accused have printed fake Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes having face value of Rs 80 lakhs and circulated in Kanpur and its surroundings.
  • They used to exchange people's demonetised notes with fake ones.
  • Two accused were graduates and one of them was pursuing graduation in M.Sc in Computer.

The case has been has been filed under relevant sections of Indian Penal Court (IPC) and police is further investigating the matter.
