VICTORY: Bharatiya Janata Party wins three MLC seats in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: As the polling for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections is underway, the Bharatiya Janata Party has already got a reason to celebrate.

BJP has won three MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats in Kanpur, Bareilly and Gorakhpur.

The polling for legislative councils was held on February 3, but unfortunately the polls were declared invalid due to error in Ballot paper. The elections again took place on February 6.

A total of 2.59 crore electorate will decide the fate of 839 candidates in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, spread across 15 districts and 73 constituencies.

Districts in which polling is underway include: Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah and Kasganj.
