Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has split the state into six organizational areas: Braj, Awadh, Kashi, Bundelkhand, and Gorakhpur, all in western Uttar Pradesh. Every area has its own set of political dynamics, but western Uttar Pradesh is the region in which all political commentators and political parties are concentrating their efforts.

In the most recent regional assembly elections, the BJP won 51 seats out of a total of 71 seats in the area. Saheendra Singh Ramla, the RJD's lone legislator, eventually defected to the BJP. The Samajwadi Party (SP) received 16 seats, the Congress received 2 seats, and the BSP received just one seat. The Jat-dominated neighborhood is referred to as 'the chic of the Jat,' because of its Jat population. Without a doubt, the Jats' votes determine whether the area would experience political triumph or failure.

UP Assembly Elections 2022:

Farmers from western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab were the most active in the farmers' movement, which lasted for more than a year and attracted millions of people. The BJP, according to political analysts, may lose several seats in western Uttar Pradesh as a result of agricultural legislation. The equations are changing right now. Several farmer's organizations, notably the Bharatiya Kisan Union, have publicly said that they would stand in opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party. There is also the Alliance between Ralod and SP, which is believed to be the party of Jats.

Also on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, RLD chairman Jayant Chaudhary met with President Naresh Tikait after meeting with Rakesh Tikait, the National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union. The BJP, too, recognized the significance of the Jats and conducted a Kisan sammelan in Varanasi on December 23 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, at which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in attendance, as evidence of its understanding. During the agitation, Rakesh Tikait attempted to bring Muslims together via the Kisan Panchayat. This is something that began following the riots in Muzaffarnagar. Jats and Muslims joined under the umbrella of Kisan Morcha, and for the first time in years, the two groups looked to be working together. There are around 17 Jats in the area, who rank third in terms of the population behind Dalits and Muslims.

Elections for 18 Lok Sabha seats and 120 Assembly seats in the state are directly influenced by Jat votes. Several seats, including Saharanpur Muzaffarnagar Kairana, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Baghpat Gautam Buddha Nagar Bulandshahr Moradabad, Bijnor, Sambhal, and Amroha, are affected by their actions, including Aligarh. Following the violence in Muzaffarnagar eight years ago, the Jats rallied to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP then attempted to surround all parties, including the SP, by claiming that they were targeting Muslims. Not only that, but Ajit Singh, widely regarded as the Jats' spiritual leader, also abstained from making public pronouncements. The reason for this is because Bade Chaudhary, the previous Prime Minister and farmer leader, Chaudhary Charan Singh, attempted to keep the Muslim-Jat community intact.

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, as well as the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP took advantage of the split between Jats and Muslims. Following the suspension of the Kisan agitation, jats and Muslims gathered at the farmers' mahapanchayat at Sisoli in Muzaffarnagar to address the errors that had been made during the previous agitation. Naturally, farmers' animosity has not waned in the intervening years. The event in Lakhimpur Kheri has only served to inflame the resentment of Jat farmers. According to the state's chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, the battle would be 80 to 20 percent in favor of the state. Sanjeev Balyan, Union Minister and BJP leader paid a visit to Sissouli two days ago on the premise of checking on the health of senior Tikait in order to assuage the animosity of the jats in the area. The results of the BJP's efforts will not be known until the election on March 10, at which point they will be evaluated.
