Lucknow: IPS officer Amitabh Thakur along with his wife activist Dr Nutan Thakur, on Sunday, reached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manzil Saini's residence to give his arrest as a mark of protest for no legal proceedings in the alleged rape case filed against him about two years back.

Amitabh stated, "Lucknow police was unable to provide the justice that is why I decided to give my arrest in front of SSP Manzil Saini."

What else Amitabh Thakur and Nutan Thakur stated:

  • The FIR was registered in mysterious circumstances on 13 July 2015.
  • We were getting regular threats from Mulayam Singh, but no investigation was done since last 18 months.
  • Investigating officer CO Gomtinagar has not collected any evidence in the case and has not even visited the alleged scene of crime.
  • Police officer knows that the case is false but do not have courage to prove because of the high level political pressure.

SSP Manzil Saini said, "We need a time of one month to investigate the matter."
