Despite the Corona pandemic, Uttar Pradesh fared exceedingly well in terms of exports. From April 2020-2021 to March 2021-2022, UP's exports increased from Rs.107423.5 crores to Rs.140123.5 crores, an increase of about 30 percent. In this, the contribution of One District One Product (ODOP) is about 72 percent.

Significantly, the Exports have increased by 2747 percent in Projects Goods for Special Purpose.

ODOP has potential to be the growth engine of the economy

The export share of the Chief Minister's flagship scheme ODOP, which was launched on the first foundation day of Uttar Pradesh in January 2018, is noteworthy in itself. This is also an indication that ODOP can become the growth engine of Uttar Pradesh's economy in the coming times. Not only this, ODOP will also play an important role in the goal of one trillion dollar economy set by Uttar Pradesh.

In view of this, the Common Facility Centres(CFCs) are being set up to provide facilities to all the stakeholders related to these products under ODOP in various districts. Out of these 5 CFCs are ready while some others will be ready soon. CFCs of some districts are also to be launched soon.

Target to double exports in five years

Keeping in view the possibilities of ODOP, the government has set a target of doubling its exports and employment generation in the next 5 years. It is to be recalled that during the first term of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, about 25 lakh people got employment/self-employment at the local level from ODOP. Yogi Sarkar 2.0 aims to double the export as well as employment or self-employment opportunities in the next five years.

" The ODOP has been a grand success story during the last five years. We are leaving no stone unturned to fulfil the resolve of CM Yogi to augment the export of ODOP products as well as double the employment/self-employment opportunities in the next 5 years, " said Navneet Sehgal, the Additional Chief Secretary MSME adding ". In some districts other products have also been selected under ODOP scheme. CFCs are to be set up in all such districts keeping in view the intrest of all the stakeholders involved in ODOP even as five of them are ready and some are in the process of approval.

He said that the training was also started in a phased manner to ensure that ODOP products remained competitive in price and quality in the national and international markets.
