Governor Ram Naik administers oath taking ceremony of UP legislators

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik hosted the swearing-in ceremony of the 17th legislative assembly members of the state in the Vidhan Sabha here on Monday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also marked his presence in the state assembly. Interestingly, former CM Kalyan Singh's son Sandeep Singh, who has been elevated as the Minister of State in the UP government, fumbled repeatedly in reading Hindi while taking oath of the house.

The swearing-in of the 403 legislators will continue till March 29. It may be mentioned that five legislators, including Fateh Bahadur who took oath as the Pro Tem Speaker of the assembly, had sworn-in on Monday. A total of 314 legislators took the pledge of the house on Tuesday, while the remaining 84 will do so on Wednesday.

Significantly, Fateh Bahadur, Ramveer Upadhyay, Anupama Jaiswal, Arvind Giri and Shashank Trivedi took oath in Sanskrit language. After swearing-in, Anupama Jaiswal said that this was just a small initiative to promote the ancient language in the country.
