Lucknow: In view of the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, the Uttar Pradesh government will provide additional security to the Kanwar Yatra undertaken by the devotees during the month of ‘sawan’.

An announcement to this effect was made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in state assembly on Tuesday. He said that a state-wide has already been sounded last night immediately after the terror attack.

The Budget session of the assembly was also marked by the two-minute silence to pay homage to the deceased in the attack.

The CM said that though Kanwar Yatra is limited to western UP but the alert has been sounded in the entire state. He also urged the devotes to remain alert during the Yatra.

The opposition too has appreciated the step taken by the government regarding the security of the state. Condemning the attack, the Samajwadi Party said applauded the UP CM for the steps taken by him to avoid any such happening in the state.

The government has also allowed the use of loud speakers, during the Kanwar yatra, by the devotees till 1800 hours. CM Yogi said that the yatris will be allowed to use loud speakers from morning till 1000 hours in the evening. “The administration will not stop them from playing loud music during this time, the CM said.
