Lucknow: Absconding Samajwadi Party minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati was successfully nabbed in a joint operation by the Special Task Force and Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday. He has been sent to judicial custody of 14 days.

The SP leader and former UP minister has been presented in front of the district judicial judge after his medical examination. He kept in Alambagh Police Station for initial probe proceedings.

Additional Director General(Law and Order) Daljeet Chaudhary said, "The leader was arrested from Lucknow in a joint operation and the inquiry is still on."

Senior Superintendent of Police Manzil Saini stated that the arrest was made with the help of the information provided by Prajapati's sons during the probe. "We nabbed him before he could surrender himself," stated the SSP.

It could be recalled that the UP STF had also arrested Prajapati's son and nephew along with three other men allegedly involved in the case, earlier, on Tuesday, for giving shelter to the accused.

The three accused arrested were: Rupesh, Vikas Verma and Pintoo alias Amrendra Singh. All these have been charged with raping a minor.

In an attempt to prove that he is innocent, Gayatri said, " I am assured of being given clean-chit like i had been proved in earlier investigation. This is a political conspiracy against me and within few days I will be proven innocent."
