Lucknow. What do we mean by gut Health? This term describes the function and balance of bacteria of the many parts of the GI tract comprising of the many organs which help us digest our food. This term has been gaining traction in the past few years and the one point which attracted FLO Lucknow, to organise this talk, was how our gut health effected our over all immunity and mental balance. Things, that are of utmost importance given todays scenario. With reference to the pandemic,

It has been observed that the COVID virus is using both the lung and the gut microbiome to gain a toehold in the body and that it is prompting a rise in negative bacteria and depleting the 'good' bacteria in the gut microbiome. Talking to FLO members in Lucknow and other chapters, was Mrs. Tanisha Vadhera, Biotechnologist and Gut Health Coach from the United Kingdom Founder of getgutsmart.co.uk, a website that specialises in making their clients aware of how to maintain and sustain good gut health thereby increasing their immunity, mental and physical health. She also helps her clients lose weight in a healthy and sustainable manner. Besides talking about gut health and the food one must take or avoid to ensure that our gut bacteria is thriving, she also talked about the role that collagen can play in boosting bone health and ensuring that we have great skin and hair.

Her talk a resounding success with many members addressing their queries which were ably handled by the moderate Radhika Halwasiya.

Arushi Tandon, Chairperson FLO Lucknow, stressed at the importance of maintaining good gut health given the severity of the pandemic and also the lifestyle diseases plaguing modern women. She said, " Before planning for this event, I hadn't really thought of gut health as something that required much thought. However I can confidently say that after today's talk, all of us will make a conscious choice to alter our lifestyles to ensure that our gut is taken care of. "
