Lucknow: FICCI FLO Lucknow releases a video celebrating the contribution of women freedom fighters in the Independence struggle for our nation, on 14th of August, 2020.

On the eve of the Indian Independence Day, General (Dr.) V.K Singh (retd.), Minister of State, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India & Former Chief of Army Staff, released FLO's film on Unsung Women Freedom Fighters, in the presence of FLO President Jahnabi Phookan and FLO Lucknow chapter chairperson Puja Garg.

A Video highlighting contribution of women freedom fighter:

This remarkable video share was put together by Lucknow chapter for the national body. In the fight for the independence of our motherland, as in many other fields and walks of life, women have been relegated to the background. Their contributions and sacrifices have gone unnoticed and unappreciated.

However the only way to keep any legacy alive in the conciousness of a nation, is by talking about it and creating a narrative around it.

This video, created with the objective of doing the same, will go a long way in establishing their contribution in the freedom struggle. There are many unsung, fearless women heroes from all corners of India, who influenced the outcome of the fight for our freedom. This video highlights the sacrifices made by the likes of Sajida Bano from J&K, Kanaklata Barua from Assam, Avanti Bai from MP, Rani Chenamma Karnataka, Annie Mascarene from Kerala, Capt Laxmi Sehgal from Tamil Nadu, Begum Hazrat Mahal from UP and Amrit kaur from Punjab.

FLO Chapter Chairperson, Puja Garg, said "It was indeed a privilage to work upon this project and I cant thank Jahanbi enough for having faith in me and my team to do justice to such an ambitious endeavor.

The idea was daunting at first but soon became an extremely absorbing and enriching experience. It was a revelation to discover so many exceptional women who gave their all to secure the future of our nation and for future generations."

We hope that this effort by FLO, initiated by Mrs. Jahanbi Phookan ensures that our women freedom fighter find their just and deserved place in the pantheon of Indian History.
