Over the course of her career, Pusarla has won medals at multiple tournaments including Olympics and on the BWF circuit including a gold at the 2019 World Championships.

P.V. Sindhu:

She is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion and the first Indian woman to earn an Olympic Silver medal. In addition, Ms. Sindhu has made the Forbes' list of Highest-Paid Female Athletes in 2018 and 2019. Along with fellow badminton player Saina Nehwal and boxer Mary Kom, she has been one of the shining beacons for sportswomen in India. Currently ranked at world number seven, shuttler PV Sindhu remains as one of India’s biggest hopes in badminton as the nation gears up for Tokyo 2020.

During the course of the interview, Ms. Sindhu shared many anecdotes about her journey including the one about how she got enamoured with badminton after seeing ace shuttler Gopichand in action, despite both her parent being acclaimed volleyball players.

She said that her fondest achievement till date, however, remains the silver medal at Rio 2016. After eliminating Tai Tzu Ying in the round-of-16, she disposed of the second-seeded Wang Yihan and Japanese star Nozumi Okuhara in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively. Winning the silver for her country at the Olympics still gave her immense joy.
