Exclusive Video of loot from jewellery shop in Lucknow

Lucknow: Newstrack.com has the exclusive video of the robbery on late Sunday night at Mukund Jewellers in the Chowk bullion market here in which 40 kg gold and Rs 13.5 crore cash were looted.

The video clearly shows how the shop owner Pravin Rastogi and his son Jitanshu Rastogi were brutally beaten by iron rods and pistol butt. The robbers not only managed to pull off the “biggest heist” in the city just a few yards away from the local police station but also shot at and wounded the owner and his son.

Interestingly, robbers lost themselves in the narrow streets of Chowk after carrying out the biggest heist but police still failed to take timely action to catch them.

What was the incident?

• Five masked persons had barged in a jewellery shop in Lucknow's Chowk area.
• Shop owner Pravin Rastogi was present at the shop.
• He tried to stop them but was brutally beaten on his head.
• His son Jitanshu Rastogi jumped in to rescue his father but was hit by a pistol butt on his head.

As a mark of protest, the bullion market and jewellery shops in Lucknow observed a shutdown on Monday.
