Lucknow: Even after the other states continuing to complain about the 'shortage of vaccine', UP leads the race with over 1.68 crore vaccine doses administered so far. Upon receiving instructions from CM Yogi Adityanath, the state has witnessed an overwhelming response in the last few days fuelling maximum people as a part of an aggressive vaccination drive.

The pace of vaccination in the Uttar Pradesh has picked up significantly this month, hitting a daily record of around 2.66 lakh doses in the last 24-hour. As per the official data, Uttar Pradesh has scored more daily jabs than Maharashtra to become the state doing the highest daily vaccinations in the country. Maharashtra has just delivered 1.93 daily jabs on May 25.

The figures clearly reveal how UP have pushed ahead in providing a safeguard to maximum number of people against COVID-19.

Uttar Pradesh has given more than 1.68 crore jabs so far in of which, over 1.34 crore people have been administered the first dose while around 33 lakh people got their second jab.

Uttar Pradesh is conducting aggressive vaccination of the 18+ category to counter the pandemic surge under the supervision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Since May 1, when registrations opened for the category of 18-44, around 13.61 lakh youths have so far been able to receive a jab in Uttar Pradesh. In the last 24-hour, around 1,47,048 got their first dose administered in this category.

The state's successful immunization efforts are credited to the Yogi-led government's strategy to run an aggressive vaccination campaign, enormous vaccination sites and strong communication about the vaccine made by the CM himself.

To take the vaccination drive further, the Yogi government has directed the officials to work on the following grounds:

Big push to Vaccination drive for 18-44 age group

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to give a big push to vaccination drive for 18-44 age group against COVID-19 starting from June 1. The CM has directed the officials to make all arrangement and ensure adequate stock of vaccine doses to inoculate maximum youths under the campaign. Currently, people in the 18-44 age group are being vaccinated in only 23 of the state's 75 districts.

Guardian Special Campaign

CM Yogi Adityanath has asked his team to prepare a suitable action plan for the 'Guardian Special' Campaign. "For vaccinating the parents of Children under 12 years of age 'Guardian Special' booths should be set up in every district" asserted the CM.

Separate Centres for frontline warriors

To boost vaccination, the CM has asked the officials to dedicate camps for government employees, bank workers etc. in order to vaccinate them at the earliest.

Apart from making separate centres for judicial officers & media personnel in all districts, the CM has instructed to set up 2 separate centres in every districts for vaccination of front line corona warriors.

Ensure zero wastage of vaccine

The CM in a high level review meeting said that the vaccination proceedings should be conducted systematically, seamlessly and effectively. Vaccination proceedings should be effectively managed with complete action plan should be made keeping in mind zero wastage. For this a month planning should be done in advance. Along with the waiting area at the vaccination centre, there should also be an observation area to follow social distancing.

Role of Surveillance Committees

The Surveillance committees in the village are generating awareness among the people of rural areas regarding the vaccine. Government is ensuring smooth vaccination at the CHCs and PHC so that more villagers can get their doses hassle-free.
