CM Yogi announces Rs 2 lakh compensation to Azamgarh hooch tragedy victims
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced Rs 2 lakh compensation amount for the kins of each person died in Azamgarh hooch tragedy.
Announcing the financial help to the affected families, CM Yogi expressed condolence and ordered the officials to eradicate the illegal liquor trade across the state.
Earlier on Friday, 12 people lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor in Raunapar region of Azamgarh district, said the officials.
After CM Yogi ordered to take strict action against the hooch manufacturers and traders, the officials launched an enforcement drive across the state.
Till July 11, a total of 3,727 cases were registered, in which 223 people were sent behind bars. A total of 60 FIRs have been registered in Azamgarh only, while 46 people have been arrested there.
