Buffalo theft is more serious offence than rape for SP govt: Smriti

Shahjahanpur: Condemning the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh, union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani on Sunday asserted that for the Akhilesh Yadav-led government, catching buffalo thieves is more important than nabbing the rape culprits.

Addressing a public meeting here, the Union textile minister indirectly targeted senior SP leader Azam Khan saying that for UP police is more concerned about catching the buffalos thieves than the rapists.

"SP and Congress have joined hands to execute more scams as they carried out Coal scam, Commonwealth Games scam and 2G scam," she claimed.

Taking a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Smriti said, "I know a Congress leader from Amethi, who has struggled a lot to become a big leader, but has not succeeded yet."

Launching an attack on UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the union minister said, "He has ditched his father in greed of power."
