Lucknow: Even as the first phase polling of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections is underway, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Saturday exhorted people of western UP to vote for her party while exuding confidence to emerge victorious in UP polls.

Attacking the pre-poll alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress, she said that now the people would never trust the hollow promises of the two parties.

"People will only cast their vote for BSP as they have also seen the real face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by voting for them in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections," she claimed.

"People will no longer believe in the fake promises of BJP as they did not fulfil any of them post coming to power at the Centre," said Mayawati, adding, "There is a wave of BSP across UP and we are surely going to form government here."

A total of 2.59 crore electorate will decide the fate of 839 candidates in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, spread across 15 districts and 73 constituencies.
