BJP leader Raja Balmiki shot dead in Muzaffarnagar; supporters stage protest

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raja Balmiki, on Wednesday, was shot dead by unidentified bike borne assailants in Muzaffarnagar.

Muzaffarnagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raja Balmiki, on Wednesday, was shot dead by unidentified bike borne assailants in Muzaffarnagar.

The incident took place in the Khatauli area of the district, in the morning of Wednesday, when three people barged into a shop to shoot the BJP leader.

A group of people blocked the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway at Khatauli to protest against the murder. Police forces were immediately deployed to the area as the situation went out of control.

  • The gunmen fired three bullets in his head, and the victim died at the spot.
  • The unidentified gunmen, later, fled away from the scene.

The station House Officer K P Singh said, "The security has been tightened in the area and we are investigating the matter. We will nab the accused soon."

Raja Balmiki was a former BJP general secretary of Khatoli city.
