Lucknow: Senior former minister and Muslim face of the Samajwadi Party, Azam Khan, is totally opposed to construction of Babri mosque at some other place in Ayodhya and said it should be restored at the same place where it existed before the demolition.

It has thrown a spanner in proposals mooted by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy and some others . They had suggested that it should be built on the other side of river Saryu.

Reacting to their statement, Khan told newspersons here on Wednesday that the mosque should be built where it stood in December 1949.

As regards sacrifices made by Hindu for Ram temple in Ayodhya he said " Muslims too have been making sacrifices. They have made in Gujarat in the past and Dadri and Muzaffarnagar in U P in recent times ".

In the light of this statement the possibility of an out-of- court settlement on mandir-masjid issue appears to be remote.
