Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav:

Chief guest Prof. Kattimani while wishing everyone on Tribal Pride Day said that today we are celebrating the birth anniversary of great tribal hero and freedom fighter, "Dharti Abba" Shri Birsa Munda ji, as Tribal Pride Day with the initiative of the present government. Through this, the whole country will know about the role of Dharti Abba in the freedom struggle and also about the glorious culture and civilization of the tribal community.

He said that the tribal community was the most neglected during the British period. In order to protect their self-respect and culture, the tribal community first waged the freedom struggle. Shri Birsa Munda died at the age of 25, but he led many movements against british government in his short life span. He had raised his voice against the British to stop and protect the forests. But his contribution is rarely mentioned in Indian history.

The Registrar, Prof. S. Victor Babu, while giving presidential address, said that in our history, only few selected leaders associated with the freedom struggle get discussed in written documents. The discussion of heroes belonging to the tribal and Dalit community is rarely found. Through Tribal Pride Day, there will be a chance to expose the facts related to the life of Shri Birsa Munda ji in front of the country.

Professor B. S. Bhadauria, Dean, Student Welfare of the University told that Shri Birsa Munda ji has carved a different place in the history of freedom struggle of the country in a very short time. He fought to save the cultural heritage of the tribal community. Taking inspiration from their lives, youth should ensure their contribution in protecting the cultural heritage of our country.

Prof. Shilpi Verma, President, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Samiti, told that Shri Birsa Munda ji led the movement against British repression. He has made a special contribution in protecting the tribal community and their culture from the colonial forces. We salute his true devotion towards the country.

Dr. Sarvesh Singh, a member of the organizing committee, presented the introduction of the chief guest and also expressed his appreciation for the announcement made by the present government to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shri Birsa Munda ji as Gaurav Diwas.
