Lucknow: An Army Jawan protects his countrymen from the enemies at the border with a sense of assurance that those very people will become a shield for his family members back home. For Subedar Aniruddh Kumar Gupta, the experience is totally contrary to such belief.

His daughter Riya (name changed) and wife were brutally beaten by neighbours in front of several citizens, none of them came to their rescue. Interestingly, despite having video evidence of the complete incident, UP Police also kept a callous approach while compelling the victim to settle out the things with the accused through negotiation.

Resident of Lucknow, Aniruddh Kumar serves the 19th Armed Regiment of the Indian Army and is deployed in Bikaner. His wife, daughter and son stays at Bharwara area under the Chinhat Police Station of the state capital.

The victim Riya told www.newstrack.com that his neighbour Suresh Kumar Singh, a strongman of the area, maintained a grudge with her family over direction of the main gate of the House .

What is the incident?

- Suresh Kumar, along with his men, turned abusive outside his residence.

- When Riya came outside to ask the reason, Suresh Singh enquired about his father.

- Knowing that he is not at home, Suresh and his men started beating Riya with a Bamboo stick.

- Her wife and younger brother intervened to stop them but they were also hit.

Police is trying to manage the case:

- Riya reached Chinhat Police Station to lodge a complaint against Suresh Singh but cops initially refused to lodge a complaint.

- Even after filing a complaint, police is continuously forcing Riya to settle the case mutually.
