Seven-judge bench of Alld HC seeks report on lawyers violence

Allahabad:Taking Suo-moto notice of yesterday's incident of advocates at Lucknow a seven judges bench of Allahabad high court on Thursday asked the principal secretary (home ) to submit a report on the matter on February 18, 2016, the date fixed by the court for hearing on the matter .

The order was passed by a seven judges bench presided over by chief justice Dr DY Chandrachud of the Allahabad High Court . The court has also issued notices to the Bar Council of UP as well as to Awadh Bar Association, Lucknow .

The court also banned on the entry of an advocate, Vishal Dixit, in any court of the state. The advocate's photo was published in newspapers having pistol in his hand at the time of incident .

It is to recall that in protest of the murder of an advocate Shravan Kumar Verma, the advocates at Lucknow were on dharna. They turned violent when the police resisted them at However when the police resist them then some violence took place.

The seven judges bench was formed today by chief justice taking note of the incident and direction has been issued to the principal secretary (home) to submit his report before court on February 18. In the meantime advocates of the Allahabad High Court in protest of the alleged police atrocities on the advocates of Lucknow decided to refrain from the court work after mid day recess.

The said decision was taken by the High Court Bar Association, Allahabad in its emergent meeting held in the chairmanship of its president RK Ojha.

It is further recalled that bar council of UP had already taken a decision that all the advocates in the UP will refrain from court's work on February 15 in protest of the police atrocities on the advocates of UP.
