Gorakhpur Tragedy: UP Health Minister's house attacked with eggs

Allahabad: The Samajwadi Party workers on Sunday attacked the residence of Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh with eggs and tomatoes here, over the deaths of innocent children at the Gorakhpur-based BRD Medical College due to oxygen supply breakdown.

According to the sources, apart from throwing eggs and tomatoes, the SP workers also vandalised the residence of the Health Minister.

It is worth mentioning that earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was shown black flags over the same issue at his stronghold Gorakhpur when he was walking out of the medical college after inspection.

The SP workers were demanding resignation of Siddharth Nath Singh over the tragedy in which at least 68 children have died so far. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had also said that taking the moral responsibility of the tragedy, the Health Minister should immediately resign.

Siddharth Nath Singh has also been facing flak over his controversial remark in which he had said, "Children die every year in August due to encephalitis."

Earlier in the day on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in an emotional statement, had said that no one could be more sensitive over the issue than him. He has assured of toughest action against the culprits behind the tragedy.
