AU VC retracts his statement about HRD ministry

Allahabad: Retracting his earlier statement, the Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University Prof Ratal Laal Hangloo had written a letter to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha acknowledging the contribution of Union HRD minister Smiriti Irani in growth of the University.

On a conciliatory note, the VC has written ''Ms Smiriti Irani has always encouraged us with her rare flash of brilliance.''

Dismissing his earlier allegation of her interference in the AU affairs, he said that all twisted statements in this regard should be ignored in totality as ''she or any of her officers has never interfered with the functioning of this university.''
